Child With Brain Cancer Recieves Donation From W. TX Drillers Football Team 3/12/12
The West Texas Drillers football team is reaching out to help a local kid dealing with cancer, by giving to a hospital that is treating him.
Six-year-old Trevor Treadaway goes to St. Judes for treatment of brain cancer.
Trevor was diagnosed at age two, and thanks to the Drillers and some of their sponsors, a check for $10,145 is being donated on his behalf.
Trevor's mom, Melinda Treadaway says it takes money for St. Judes to treat children, and they were honored that the drillers chose to help.
“He is currently on chemo,” she said, “He’s on four different types of chemotherapy. We got back from Memphis about two weeks ago, and his MRI is stable so that means that the chemo is working and is doing what it needs to do in his body.”
The Drillers held an auction and two sponsors gave a dollar for every ticket sold to help raise the money.
Trevor and his family will go back to Memphis for further treatment in a couple of months.
