The Texas Tech Red Raiders are getting set to kick off the Tommy Tuberville era in just over a month, with college football right around the corner preseason nominations are starting to come out.
Former Midland High Bulldog now Texas Tech running back Baron Batch has been nominated for the 2010 Allstate AFCA good works team, which is the most prestigious off the field honor in college football.
Batch, who will be the go to guy on the ground for the Red Raiders heading into the season is very involved with the non-profit program Bridge of Lubbock helping at risk teens and also devotes time to kids here in the basin.
There are 112 nominees for the good works team, which will be made up of two eleven-member teams.
Some of the former team members include Peyton and Eli Manning, Trent Dilfer, and Tim Tebow.
The teams will be announced in late September.
